We know the problem (changing IPs). Now, let’s look at the features in your AX4400 Web Interface. You might see options like "Smart Connect," "DDNS," or "QoS."

But the winner is DHCP Address Reservation (sometimes called Static IP).

This feature lets you take the unique ID of your device (the MAC address) and tell the router: "Every time you see this specific drive, ALWAYS give it IP address 192.168.0.53."

  • Why not Smart Connect? That just manages Wi-Fi bands (2.4GHz vs 5GHz).

  • Why not QoS? That prioritizes speed for gaming, not addresses.

With Address Reservation, your backup path is permanent.
