Google Drive Now Has Google Maps

Create Your Google Map From Google Drive

Creating a Google Map just got easier for those that are using Google Drive.  The ability to create a map from within Google Drive was announced on December 11, 2014.  As we've said all along, Google continues to create tighter integration with it's products. Not that it was ever difficult to create maps, but this is certainly one step closer to creating the 'one stop solution' that we believe Google is moving towards.

Why This Is Important

Let's say you're working on a project. That project is a thousand miles away, in a different country. You've never been there, but you need images for your project. And you need other project members to be able to easily find the map you're creating. We know how much fun it would be to jump on a plane with a camera. But that's not always possible.  Enter Google's "My Maps".

Create The Map In A Shared Project Folder In Google Drive

That's it. Anybody on the project, that has been granted access to the folder and map, can then pull that map up and work on it.  In other words, Google is preparing the way for ONE central location for ANY Data that you would use on a project.  There will be no need to search Maps, Documents, Images, Videos, or any other file type for the project data. And the main difference won't need a different 'tool' to open it. Or another password. Less Headaches.
