How To Disable The Automatic Creation Of A Video Call When You Create An Appointment In Google Calendar

I like using Google Calendar because I can get to it from all my devices. But I don't like it creating video calls automatically every time I create an event.
This video will show you, or your network administrator, how to turn it off in Google Apps. It is managed through the Google Apps Administrative Interface. If you do not have access to that, you may not be able to disable it.

Why We Use Google Apps

Why we use Google Apps rather than Gmail
We've been using apps since 2006. It increased our productivity by making it easier to collaborate. No more wondering whether or not the new 'widget' was going to be compatible. We knew it would be. That's just the way that it works "Inside the Goog."  We've had enough of the other stuff.  Maybe individual apps aren't as powerful one on one. But as a platform, nothing even comes close.

What This Site Isn't Supposed To BE

This site is not being created to be the most spectacular site on the Internet.  From a technical viewpoint, it's pretty stout.  It is being created to demonstrate how much can be done using Google Apps, and the other suite of Google products.  And it's being created by someone with over 20 years experience in the development world.

It's All About The Google Platform

This particular 'About This Site" page is being created using the Google Platform permission tools. the content is being created using the Google Site "Announcements' page template type. It is not intended to be as slick looking as some sites you may visit.  But it is intended to create traction in it's genre of business.

December 2014

Although we've had this domain for many years, we've never attempted to create anything on it quite like this. You can do a search on the Way Back Machine to see some of it's iterations. We've thought about creating it like this, but just never could get to it. At the time of it's creation, there are possibly fewer than 10 sites similar to it.  In fact, there are none that I know of.  This is not your grandma's website.  It's different. You'll have to actually request access to get more information about it.

Google App Admins Can Now Update Profiles For The Organization

Can a Google Apps Administrator manage Domain Profiles?
Google Apps Announcement Concerning Administrator Control of OU Profiles

A few weeks ago, we launched the capability for Google Apps admins to give individual users a Google+ profile, in order to connect with other employees and encourage collaboration and sharing in the organization. We’re now extending this capability so that admins can perform automatic profile upgrades for an entire organizational unit (OU).

From Apps > Additional Google Services > Google+ > Sharing settings, admins can simply select an OU that has been enabled for Google+ and check the box in Profile Creation settings to automatically create Google+ profiles for all members of the OU.

After confirming that all people in the OU are older than 18 (and that no users under 18 will be added to the selected OU), Google+ profiles are then automatically created for all existing (and future) members of the OU. These members are then sent a Google+ welcome email explaining the action taken by the administrator.

  • Today’s launch applies to Premier, Gov and higher-education EDU domains only
  • (K-12 EDU domains are excluded). People using Picasa or with a public chat photo are not eligible to be upgraded by an admin, and must create their own profile.
