The beginning processes of a Google Site
I'm dating this because I want to.
No other reason. I think maybe I might look back one day and say "So that's when I did that!" I don't know. What I do know is that in order to get this concept out and into the mainstream, I'm going to have to document it. That's why I'm creating this site, and this 'Announcement' page.

Well, That And I Needed A Post

On the sites "About" page, there are three columns. (at least at the time of this writing there were) Those columns use widgets that call up the most 'recent announcements' and display short snippets there. You can designate which 'announcement' the snippet is being pulled from.

So Here's What I Did

I kind of like list, plus I have my five minute timer going right now, so I should get right to it.
  • I created the About Page
  • I change the page layout to three columns.
  • I created a page called "Public content" so that I could make that content public, and would have a place to create the pages. I did NOT make a menu to that public content page.
  • I created three announcement pages
  • I added three widgets to call the most recent posts to the bottom of the About Page
None Of This Is Groundbreaking Stuff
Especially not when you take it by itself. But when you look at the overall process, each step is necessary and important. I hope this journal/project will show that to you.
